The Brehm Robotics Team Return from Competition

Over the weekend, the Brehm Robotics Team Megahurts travelled to St. Louis for the first of two regional competitions. Like many teams, the Brehm Megahurts experienced some difficulties with this year's Breakaway Challenge. Some issues the team faced had to do with factors such as new field competition management, the new swerve drive system and short 10 minute intervals between matches.

Like a true, seasoned team, the Megahurts handled the pressure and stress very well and finished 25th overall.

Over the next two weeks, Team Megahurts will be making some slight modifications to their robot in preparation for the North Star Regional in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the University of Minnesota Mariucci Arena. The North Star Regional is set to take place April 1st-3rd.

What is Brehm?

Brehm is an accredited junior-senior high school. A family style boarding school for students, grades 6 through 12, with complex learning disabilities.

OPTIONS Program at Brehm serves post high school students with learning disabilities who need to further develop academic and social skills required for success in college, vocational/technical school, and the workplace.

Brehm Preparatory School Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, offers a unique holistic program that individually addresses each student’s academic, emotional, and social needs.

Brehm uses the term “complex” learning disabilities in recognition that students experience difficulties in multiple areas of functioning. Brehm’s holistic program focuses on the combined academic, social and emotional effects of having a learning disability.

Our students often have multiple diagnoses affecting their performance with the core issue of having a language-based etiology. We recognize the combined effects of LD/ADD, language based processing issues, executive function issues and the social and psychological implications of not being successful in an academic environment. Brehm offers direct interventions for students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, NLD, aspergers, anxiety disorder, tourettes, auditory processing disorder, speed of processing disorders and interventions requiring behavioral and emotional support as it relates to academic issues.
